At Anime Central 2008, David West announced his departure from staff after over 10 years of devoted work and leadership in the security/IRT Department, citing issues in his personal life preventing him from continuing further.  The response to that announcement was humbling, and David was deeply touched by the love and support shown to him that day.

Alas, the story does not end there, and the need for your love, and more importantly support, is still dire...

David and his sister Shela have been struggling to make ends meet for the past two years, ever since the death of their mother, Cheravon.  Shela’s job was working for her mother’s office in a grantwriting position for a not-for-profit, a job that was downsized out of existence, shortly after Cheravon’s death.  She has not been able to find work, in the field or otherwise, since.  David has been holding down a 2.5 GPA at an online university while seeking full time employment since then as well with little success, his prior three years having been spent helping convalesce his mother during her final years still with us.

David and Shela have been struggling to make ends meet for this entire time, with little to no available assistance.  On July 21st, they received notice from their landlord that he intends to sue for an eviction.  They have NO HOPE of securing any financing to save themselves, and stand to be out on the street in a matter of weeks.

HE NEEDS OUR HELP.

Being the proud individual Dave is, he never told anyone of the full depths of his financial straits until just now.  And it is our hope that the ACEN Community might come together to help one of our own, one so deserving of a break in life that we might all be able to point and say someday, I had a hand in helping that man make it in the world.

The PayPal links above allow you to donate an amount of your choosing, directly to David West; 100% of your donation going direct to Dave and his family.  Official attendance to ACEN in 2008 numbered close to 16000 people.  If each person donated a dollar, it would be enough to get Dave and his family back on their feet for a year or two longer;  if everyone gave FIVE, we might have enough to send both Dave and Shela back to school, and truly provide these folks with the start they never had the first time around in their lives.
